Welcome to our ‘Meet our Connectors’ series; a multi-week social media series dedicated to highlighting one of our OnwardUP Connectors per month!
Why do you love it living where you do?
I moved to Revelstoke about a year ago. It’s such a great community and the perfect place to be a ski guide with the proximity to some of BC’s best mountain ranges and operators. Summers are even better—secrets out.
Favourite place within walking distance of your house?
Coffee shops in Revelstoke are out of this world. Or the green belt where I can run in the summers and cross-country ski in the winters.
Activity of choice?
SKIING, always.
How did you get into skiing?
I think I started skiing as soon as I started walking?
A Highlight from last year?
I did a backpacking trip from the Sunshine coast to Squamish. It was out-of-this-world beautiful and the best crew of women. A true adventure at its finest.
What’s one piece of gear that is always in your backpack and why?
I go everywhere with my RAD kit. When I’m guiding, I use it for glacier travel, cliff rescue, or any situation like falling into a creek, or using a toboggan. There are so many applications, and it’s easy to pack because it’s so lightweight.
How cold is too cold?
I’ve become quite soft over the last few years…. I tend to avoid the outside world beyond -25. Heated socks are a game changer though.
Book / podcast / recommendations?
I love smartless the podcast. I laugh out loud every time.
One thing you have learnt in the mountains that you wish everyone knew?
Getting home safe is more important than any mission.
Name a non-profit in your community that is doing amazing work?
Mountain muskox! They provide support for those who have dealt with mountain trauma. I am a huge advocate for mental health in the mountain community and it’s amazing they provide such amazing support for those who have been heavily impacted by loss in the mountains.
A value you feel you align with, with OnwardUP’s values?
Work hard, play hard! I am inspired by OU’s work ethic and drive for success. I’m also inspired by the way they foster relationships and spend meaningful time with people. You’ve got life figured out when you can achieve that kind of balance! Something I certainly strive for.
Upcoming adventure plans, you’d like to share?
No big plans other than ski touring all over the province. Potentially greenland this summer!
