Hi Team!

With our limited ability, due to Covid 19, to travel to stores and train staff on the new Patagonia shells for Spring 2020, we wanted to shoot a couple of videos breaking down the category and options.

The first video speaks to “What is a Hardshell?” and Patagonia’s perspective on hardshells.

The second video is a breakdown of most of the shells in the S20 Patagonia lineup.

Lastly, I try to explain briefly what DWR is and the importance of it.

Whether you work at a store that sells Patagonia, or are looking to purchase a hard/rain shell, please reach out to anyone at OnwardUP for more questions. We hope you found this useful.

Stay well and let’s hope we get to spend some time in the rain this summer!

Rob

Patagonia Spring Alpine Hardshells General Information

Depending on what you need, Patagonia has a wide range of hardshell options to choose from.

Here are just some things to consider:

  • Weight and Packability vs Durability
  • Price vs Longevity
  • More or Less pockets?
  • Emergency use or Everyday use?

S20 Line up of Alpine Shells

00:16- Actually 13% bio-based PU membrane

1:29- Torrenstshell P/O is the one rain shell/hardshell we have that doesn’t have pit zips

Note: I missed the Galvanized Jacket which is available in Spring but excels as a winter alpine and ice climbing jacket.

I also missed some great urban/sportswear rain coats like the M’s/W’s Quandary Jkt and Light Storm Jkt, the M’s City Storm and the W’s Torrentshell City Coat.

What is DWR?

All of these jackets have the same level of waterproof protection and all of them will last for many hard days and years in the field.

The most important factor, that all of these jackets share, is that their face fabrics are made with 100% recycled materials, they are all Fair Trade Sewn (which helps those who construct these garments live a better life), and are made by a company with an unmatched level environmental and social responsibility.

Please source more information and look to purchase these jackets at your favourite local western Canadian retailer. #shoplocal
