Hiking season is ON. We are entering peak wildflower season, ridge walks, alpine lake dips, and sandwiches in the world’s most scenic places.

Between hiking/running on my own, or guiding, I am spending almost all my days on the trails. These are my MUST haves in the field. …

Terravia Pack

What I love: It’s light and simple.

There is an outside pouch for things I don’t like to put with the rest of my gear—a wet umbrella or rain jacket, garbage I might find on the trail, or a towel and swimsuit! The backpack has a very simple structure, and when it’s heavy or jam packed, it moves with my body well. It has a lid at the top for the essentials like a radio or sunscreen—things I need to get to on a regular basis.

Patagonia Sun-Shade hoody

What I love: It’s breathable and protects me from the sun exposure on hot days with intense solar radiation.

When I’m on glaciers or in the high alpine; the protection from the sun is crucial. It’s important to have a layer where I’m protected but I don’t get too overheated.

Bindi headlamp

What I love: Light and powerful.

The likelihood I’ll need my headlamp during these long summer nights are low. But if I do need it, I know I can trust this headlamp. It’s super light so I can save on grams, but it’s a powerful lamp with full specs.

Terravia Pants

What I love: light, breathable, nice pockets.

When I’m guiding I need lots of pockets for my phone, radio, and guide notes. It’s nice to have.

Airshed Pro Pullover:

What I love: This layer is magic.

I use it almost every day of the year. In the winter, It’s great for ski touring because it provides just that extra protection from the elements. In the summer, it’s perfect for high output exercising, and the hood is awesome for the bugs. I never overheat in this layer, yet it provides all the protection I need.
